Anyone been in touch with Martin at Channel Ribs recently?

Just tried to PM him but the mailbox is full and his website has been down for a couple of days, and I was after placing an order.

Thanks for your help

That's the answer then, let's not kick a man while he's down.

I'm gutted as I've had lots of great service and bargains over the years and I wish him and his family all the very best of luck

Well that's what I wondered, but was trying to be discreet.

Actually I have an order outstanding but not worried as paid by credit card.

Shame if so as I was looking forward to that good little knife he sold, and always found Martin helpful and polite.

Hmmmmmm - this seems to answer some questions...maybe:

New lease of life for second-hand shop « This Is Guernsey

So what does this mean for Alderney Marine? Run by someone else... or not trading?

I've only ever had good experiences from Martin. Others may not have done and I feel for them.

Very very very few people set out to bugger others about..and I don't think Mart is one of them.

Good luck to him.

You'll have to excuse me for not joining in with the Martin Smith love-in.

He's a liar and a thief, end of story. Obviously I never got a penny of the £450 he took off me, it no doubt went on setting up his new shop.

There's a lot more victims of CR on here than is publicly known about, there's several more over on the YBW forums and who knows how many others.

Mart was an Internet Walter, always making out he's something he's not, RYA instructor, maritime security expert etc etc, all bullish t.

There's a big ex special forces rib with his home address dialled into the plotter, I'm changing its name to "The Collector"....

Hello All

Well I treat as I find, and – until now - felt very happy in my dealings with Martin.

I am though disappointed that we were in email contact about my partially-outstanding order when the change to the new business was clearly taking place earlier this year, but this was not mentioned.

I certainly don’t wish him any harm in his private or personal life, and in turn hope he’ll be as equally decent and helpful in making sure others do not suffer financially from his change of tack.

So let’s see….

Cheers

Steve

You're "disappointed" he lied to you and stole your money? You're a lot more relaxed about it than me!

FYI Channel Ribs ceased trading late January

Hi Martini

For sure, if I wasn't protected by the credit card, I'd feel far more unhappy, and if I'd suffered financially in the same way you suggest, then I would most proabably feel like you do.

Not saying you are right or wrong - just commenting honestly on how it is at this end... no criticism of you intended at all.

I am most surprised though that I seem to have broken this stroty on here, when it seems to have been known about.

Cheers and good luck!

Steve
