Exactly.
Can be any outfall, e.g. sewer, power station, etc when something is attached on the end of the pipe to increase the area of discharge, the significance on a chart being that the diffuser may well be a lot larger than the pipeline itself.
Loads in the Solent - Fawley terminal and Fawley power station are a couple of examples.
As to obsolete / obscure chart symbols - do they still use "Here be Serpents" ?
