CHEAP Immersion suit for the lanky+lardy ones among us
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/EX-SBS-DPM-Imm...QQcmdZViewItem
I've just grabbed the other one he had for sale-it's quite rare to find anything vaguely like a drysuit for sale 2nd hand that's this big.

What are these suits like? are they imersion suits or dry suits like diving type laminate suits? I'vee seen some good goretex ex SBS kit but well worn out.

I'm not actually sure-it LOOKS like a sailing drysuit with elasticated legs.
It's cheap enough that if it lasts one season it's worth it though-just for the luxury of warmth and normal clothes in the winter, the pee zip and dry feet.

OK you've convinced me! Next time you are out I'll be the one in a DPM gimpsuit, unless it actually is the SBS, wonder if there is an RFID tag in it - hmm spooky!

Well... Mine's arrived.
Pretty much a thin membrane drysuit that's designed to go over your shoes-and has pockets. Bargain!
No RFID tag in it though.

Won mine so I'll let you know when it arrives not sure what I'll be doing with the feet yet. Could chop em off and put some membrane boots on or just bond on some latex socks next time I'm at the SM stall at the Bizare Bazaar.

yeah the feet are a bit cumbersome. How much is a set of membrane boots?
I bought the one with dead seals as I decided it'd be better to get a new set in there from when I bought it.

Almost all dive shps will know someone local who can supply and fit a number of different types of boot.
trilaminate membrane boots (some with steel toecaps)
neoprene boots
I'd imagine you could probably get neoprene lined tri-laminate boots they'd be comfy. Price wise not to sure as I have never had to do mine. Latex socks would be the cheapest. The repairs arent that diifcult glueing on wrist and neck seals are faily easy jobs.

Would the neoprene lined boots on here be the right kind?

By the way, the website above DOESNT appear to have secure payment so don't blame me if anyone buys from them and gets scammed....

Nos,
Arrived now, not sure if I'll be hacking the feet off yet. Nice neoprene neck and wrist seals (comfy) as well thought they'd be latex. These must have cost fortune new. useful handheld swallowing pockets; 1 chest 1 on each leg.
Will give a test in a bit when I've repaired the minor tear in one wrist seal.
Tim M you might like one, cheap and practical, shame its DPM looks a bit Army! I might end up being shouted at and have to drive some ludicrously overpowered and expensive Rib into the wide blue yonder protesting that I'm not in HM services.

yeah they are £500+ each new. Mine's getting latex seals in it unfortunately. How much more would a replacement neoprene seal cost?

Nos,
Not sure but;
Seaskin Price list
or
Hammond Price list
Again RoHo in Notts may do it too, its a fairly standard procedure so any dive centre or dive gear service centre would be able to advise. 500 nicka! I may be in the market for some more, will look after this one.
If the zip is a bit stiff get some beeswax or zip lube from a dive shop, if its all green and horrible in places carefully use one of those green make up removing pads women leave by the sink sometimes branded "Scotchbrite" on it then zip lube or wax.

I went to a "Bizare Bazaar" a couple of weeks ago....I'll bet you are looking at 500nicka+ for some of those "outfits" the girlfriend did like some of the jewellery.
