I see you are in Ireland so popping in to try them on might be a bit difficult but Marine Superstore has quite a good selection ranging from £40 to £270.

I bought mine from uk, Force4 I think.
Some companies will deliver them to Ireland and some won't. I used Parcelmotel.
Marineparts.ie are in Dublin and deliver over €50 for free so worth a look too

I've used Lifejackets by mail order from Marine Warehouse Ltd - Marine Warehouse Ltd in the past. Free delivery to Irland Sud.

IMO - you don't need a harness version so I would buy the clip variety which is easier to put on and cheaper. You absolutely need crotch straps. IIRC 44kg is the minimum for adults jackets so a few pies shy for the wain. I'd suggest a foam jacket for someone too young/small for an adult jacket.

For your 30kg jacket, Crewsaver do a junior automatic version.
We bought one, very tidy, although the added insulation of the foam might be better to keep warm on those rare cloudy days.

I think there are other pro's and con's of putting younguns in autoinflates:

1. It makes it just like mum/dads, which means there may be less objection to wearing it.
2. Kids do quite like getting wet - which can get expensive, or might mean they take it off to jump in, or when mucking about at the pontoon!
3. The autoinflate isn't 100% certain to fire. I think you need to be confident that your child would both be able to swim well enough (fully clothed and in shock) whilst activating it AND have the presence of mind in an emergency to find and pull the cord.

For me that means on an open RIB I'd want fixed foam at least until they get to secondary school.

Mick,

I got mine from Marine Parts in Dublin, prices are good and generally next day delivery.
