Cheapest ribcraft 585 ever maybe?
Not for the faint hearted but if someone wanted a worthwhile project £30 might just buy you a ribcraft 585 here to customize to your own specifications

Well spotted. The hull looks remarkably clean.

Someone needs to buy it & do a build thread hull does look clean probably half an hour with a jet wash to blast the muck off & a stanley knife to get the tubes off it would look 10x better

Looks like somebody has had a short shaft engine on it at some stage, cut the transom to suit and built the box to try and stop the flooding.
Could be the reason it fell out of use.
But building the transom back up is easy, splashing out £5.5K -£6.5K on a new set of tubes will feel hard to justify.

You cant retube for £1k/mtr nowadays probably more like 7.5k but if someone wants a forever boat customised to their specifications & can do the work then when a new boat is north of 60k this could still be a cheap option. Obviously wouldnt stack up if you were to sell short term but if you wanted new tubes up to date electronics & a new engine install it could easily be less than half the new cost . Retubes rarely make economic sense but it depends on wether you want new tubes & everything else new or if you can live with older tubes & outdated electronics etc.

As much as the cost to rebuild would be a bit hard to swallow, I would prefer to see rib restored and not thrown away.

It is, but as long as the hull is sound & rot free, someone will end up with a RIB which is as good as the effort they put into it, at cost. As Ken says, it’ll be well short of £60k. I reckon for the right side of £10k, you could have a bare hull, with new tubes awaiting your engine of choice. It’s all down to the skill set of the purchaser.

I've refurbished 2 ribs recently, let's assume the deck is shot & transom rotten ( it's been cut & metal plated) never a good sign in my experience
We are comparing a new £60k rib package! So I will add new engine & trailer
here's some rough £ numbers
Re Tube £7.5k (without flange work)
Transom repair re build £2k
Stringers substructure deck & flow coated £5k
Hull grp gel coat refurbishment £1000
Trailer £4k
Suzuki DF 150hp £14k
Seastar hydraulic steering system £1.4k
Fuel tank £1000
Fuel filter hoses and consumables £200
Bilge pump hoses and consumables £150
Total £36'250

That still come in way cheaper than a new package but if someone is doing the work themselves & using a second hand trailer I'd say easily 10k less than those figures, theres already a fuel tank in situ & I'd doubt the floor & stringers would be rotten, agree the transom needs rebuilt but I'd estimate a few hundred not 2k if I was doing myself
I think pikeys £10k for a refurbished bare hull is a good realistic estimate for a competent diyer.

All prices I've used are for a business to carry out the works, they are based on a 6m Rib refurbishment I had done in early 2024
Obviously there is a saving if you have the skills, time and facilities

I wasnt saying your figures were wrong, I totally agree even paying a pro to do the work & looking at it the worst way ( a total basket case ) & using new equipment theres a huge saving over a new package. The big savings come from doing the work yourself & reusing the good bits.

Hence why I said “it’s down to the skill set of the purchaser” if you were paying a “professional” to do the work on your behalf, then it’s a different ball game.
I also added the assumption that the hull was rot free & sound. You’re assuming that the hull is shot. We’re not comparing the same job.
