Cherbourg Arromanches Caen Pegasus Bridge

Just thinking about a cruise to Caen next June via Cherbourg and Arromanche and would love to go to the centre of Caen passing under Pegagsus Bridge . Anyone been up the canal and know what it is like ?

It is very interesting up there, although I suspect you will need to try and contact the control tower to go under the bridge since there didn't appear to be much head room. They have even put in dolphins with fenders on to make sure you bounce inline with the main channel - we watched quite a large coaster go down the canal doing a good 7 to 10 knots I'd guess.
The museum with the original Pegasus Bridge is about 100metres away from the bridge that stands there now.

I'll bear that in mind but we are taking our own security in the shape of an ex 3Para , he assures me he knows his way around those parts it was dark last time he went!
