cherry popped

Its finally happened, I was a rib virgin until a few weeks ago, when i finally got together with my first rib after 20 odd years of boating fishing mainly, bought it of a mate at a reasonable price i think, didnt know what flavour she was, but since checking this site out i have discovered its an ospey viper i think after reading bingomikes threads. She only has a 75hp mariner 2 stroke and thats a little older than i would like, and it does not like to start and coughs and splutters at full throttle back of a bit and it runs fine or so im told.
Off to the engine doctor at the weekend for a damn good seeing to, hope he is gentle with us, especially my pocket. if its not a viper any info would be greatfully recieved.
Its about 5.80mtrs long.

Welcome Troyster - delighted to hear you have a popped cherry

I'm sure some of the chaps on here will be able to help - in the meantime enjoy the new toy - they are excellent fun

It's not a Viper - they don't have a hard nose.
As it's 5.8m long, it's probably an Eagle. Nugent recently did a refurb on one and was very pleased with the results. You should be able to find his thread by doing a search.

BTW, severe gippo problem you've got up there. I'd get that RIB away from there ASAP, if I were you or there'll be nothing left of it.

Hi Troyster

just seen your thread and your comments on mine, haven't quite got mine in the bag yet but desperately hoping too. glad your thinking like me aswell. as isaid fishing and cruising will be the main events for it. Have decided not to make any changes if i get it for the first season so i can get a feel for it. will then decide what changes need to be made. love my fishing and thought long and hard about what to go for but the arvors jenneaus etc are just not ideal for the travelling as i want to use it in various places and although they offer weather protection i struggled to remember when i actually had get in the shelter when i have been fishing if its that nasty i wouldn't be fishing.
p.s. welcome also from another new member.

Now that's what I read from your post!!

Not much different from my old one either - slow to start, coughing and spluttering at full throttle but don't need to go to the doc as much as before!!!

Don't worry troyster - this is what is called the bilges
