China Made Ribs
I was having a little Surf on the net and came across this Rib. It is 4.8 m long (other lengths available) and comes with all the stuff you see in the pic (Except the engine) Some of the items are optional extras but including those you can get it for £4000 It is available in various fabrics (Price varies of course).
Sort of makes you think

Some people will hate them and tell you that they'll fall apart after a year, and if you're out in the North sea every day or running a commercial sea school every day of the year that may well be correct.
But I'm now in year 5 of running an x-pro defender that are made by the company Delta-Bay. It's a hobby boat, used for 50 hrs or so a year. She's used for running around the coast, a few safety events and the odd diving trip.
So far she still looks good, is lovely to helm and holds the sea well. Highfields are also made in china as are most of the Sibs on the market and as most people forget, the majority fo the main parts the other ribs are made up from
You get what you pay for, but they can be great value for a family style use.

Very interesting information and from a person with experience.
I like these boats mainly because they seem to be finished better and look less 'industrial' that some of the UK built boats.
The Price also is a huge factor

I have been selling RIBs made in China for the past 18 years and I find that the workmanship is up to par with world standards like the Highfield. I have had no complaints with regards to workmanship. Material is world class. You just need to get the right manufacturer for a good quality RIB.

I've had a look at a few aluminium Chinese RIBs and whilst the welding on them might work, it is generally unpleasant to look at.
I've visited METS a couple of times where there has been a proliferation of Chinese manufacturers. Whilst you can buy a Chinese version of a Wichard padeye for example, the finish isn't as good
In some of their copies, particularly safety gear, they haven't been tested to any recognisable standard.
As treerat has experienced, they do work but personally the quality isn't there yet. There is also a difference between European firms building in China and homegrown firms. The latter are some way behind the former.

Are you claiming that that boat at 4.8m long supplied as shown (teak style deck, upholstery, stainless work, tube finishing details, steering/rigging etc) is £4000 GBP delivered?
Even without a trailer that would be an amazing price. Too good to be true in fact. Regardless of the quality - it’s almost unbelievable anyone could make something that size, ship it here, pay vat and import duty and not be losing money. Unless of course they are trying to lure you in and take your cash!

£4000 is for all you see in the Pic excluding the Trailer, Engine and Shipping and Tax.
Shipping is £480 to the UK in a Crate or £1100 in its own 20 ft container which is how it is sent if you buy the trailer which is £550.
No Idea what the tax etc is but I am in the course of finding out.
I think you could have That boat on a trailer (Probably not UK Certified) tax paid at your door excluding the engine for around £6,500- £7000
The bottom line is if you trust the Chinese Company and I do you could have that boat at a very reasonable price and all you are risking is about £7000 max
