Your not getting my drift here if I had a suicide seat I would have grab handles I tie up with the front eye and one on the transom
The grab ropes are used when another rib comes along side for a cake stop or if we are swimming
Is that clear enough
Anyway big thread drift and we are spoiling Dans thread

I think it's good that this important issue is out in the open and being discussed.

Cleats are fine for tying on to provided there's little force. One other boat in calm water isn't going to harm.
Handy as Kerny says for holding when either on board moving about or holding off when on a jetty/pontoon.
As for not standing on tubes, why not? They're not made of paper!

Well if your spent own good money on a rib and new tubes I don't think you would want any num nuts standing all over it with muddy boots and pushing off from your engines with a boat hook
But the again if it's someone else's rib who cares
And as for the cleats I've seen one torn off so you takes your chance

LOL you muppet. Get your facts straight.
As for cleats, all things can ultimately break, doesn't stop them serving their designed purpose.

I would have at least 8 on each side Clamchowder cos that will certainly stop what mick is worried about

just ask them to ditch the tube, the fibreglass and whack an outboard on the back of 500 cleats glued together....perfect :-)
cheers
