Clipper Round The World Yacht Race-----Finish, Volunteers wanted.
The Clipper 11-12 Round The World Yacht Race is Finishing at Southampton on July 22nd after enduring everything nature has thrown at them. The ten race yachts will arrive in the solent and they will head in formation up Southampton Water toward Ocean Village Marina at around 1100-1400.
We are asking for volunteers with suitable motor boats and RIBS to act as official marshal boats. If you are interested in volunteering and you have RIB available that is bigger than 5.75m that is also fitted with VHF please email clipper@aps-marine.co.uk .
The driver will be required to have a VHF licence and PB2 qualification or higher. The marshal RIBS will be placed under the command of the Chief Marshal and will be required to fly official flags which will be supplied. A contribution will be made to your fuel.
It was unanimously agreed by all whom performed these duties for the race start last July, that a great day was had and it was a pleasure to assist these adventures on their way around the world
If Intrested Please forward, Name, boat details, MMSI etc to the Email Address above.

Nice one Brian, you all did a great job last time on the race start against some stupid people ignoring all rules and regs and even common sense.
We will see you out on this one as booked with some friends of yacht crews.

Thanks to all who have volunteered so far, a few more boats still required please. It promises to be a good time on the water, escorting these amateur crews after their circumnavigation of the world.

Brian, if you dont mind a hijack for the event which may generate some more interest
Race return 22nd July (Sunday)
Here is the link to the latest notice of event timings, worth bearing in mind you wont get into Ocean Village for moorings but a great event ashore also. The waterside you can expect to be packed all the way from The Solent to River Itchen so you will need excellent watching/observations and helming to stay safe
Race Finish Schedule

Thanks Ian, glad you have highlighted it on here.
Is there anyone with a RIB over 5.75m and PBII qualified intrested in being part of the Marshall fleet, we have had a couple of boats drop out and are now 1 short.
A contribution to fuel cost will be made, and this is a great opportunity to get some good photo's of the event.
1st to reply is top of the list !!!

Do you get arm bands or baseball caps with Marshall written on them so that people know that you have the Authority to prohibit them using the bit of water as per the Notice to Mariners?
