Coastline 7.0S - A good news story!
When the time for a bigger boat, having loved my Ribcraft 4.8, I decided it had to be a RC between 5.85 and 6.8. However, RC didn't seem particularly interested in selling me a new 5.85, and there were precious few suitable used options.
In the end I went completely off piste and got a 7m Coastline, a brand I had never heard of, that are now out of production, and below budget.
I have to say I'm delighted, she appears solidly built, performs amazingly on 175hp, and gives a very dry ride. I've been out with a couple of similar sized boats with 300hp and she gives them a good run for their money. Best I've had one up, with a following wind, tide etc is 45kts according to the gps.
With two adults and two kids I can just about get 40kts. This is probably due in large part to a narrow beam of just 2.25m, which you are aware of when moving round the boat, but is a worthwhile compromise these days I reckon.
Anyway - if you come across one, might be worth a look.

I bought a Coastline 6.5 with a 150hp Mariner from a member on here last year. Fantastic boat and I am impressed with how it handles a bit of sea state and how dry she rides.
Certainly very happy with the boat and loving getting her out and about.

I was on one at Ribex many years ago. Very nice, soft riding hull. Sad to hear they are no longer trading. Any idea what happened to coastline? Did they go broke? Interestingly there's a company on the Isle of Wight that was buying coastline hulls and fitting them out themselves called "Island Ribs" and they are still trading. Perhaps they took over the mould tooling and rights to the hulls? They look identical hulls.

As part of my due diligence I got in touch with Brian Hallett, designer and founder, of Coastline.
Brian, who is now at Island Ribs, was super helpful and patiently answered all my questions.
I may have misunderstood, but I think Brian said that the narrow bodied 7.0m S was going back into production - presumably under the Island Ribs banner.
The only thing I'm not convinced by is the 'dimpled' non slip decking. I'm fine, but the dogs struggle for traction compared to the Ribcraft. For now I've chucked down a piece of loose Treadmaster in front of the console, but I'm thinking about more permanent options - Tekdek, Seadek, Kiwigrip etc.

Ah good to know that Brian is at Island Ribs & that its basically the same well founded hulls. They would definitely be on my shortlist if i was ever boat shopping again! Beautiful boats. Enjoy 👍

Excellent - Which Coastline, and where will you be based on the Hamble Ribtecer?

I have one as well, beautiful handling boat. But I have one question - do you know for definite the size of the fuel tank? I spoke with Alex at Island Ribs and got a non committal "it's about 120 litres" answer. Do you know for sure? Just about to install a fuel flow sensor and need to know the tank capacity....

Hi 567simons,
I asked Brian Hallett and was told capacity was 140 litres, 130 usable, with boat in normal trim.
FWIW I’ve found that my actual consumption can be up to 7% thirstier than the Suzuki engine derived data displayed on the Garmin chart plotter.

I also went on one at ribex in a very snotty cowes. A ribtec a coastline and a twin stepped scorpion were the only three boats that impressed me.

gtflash apologies I never followed up, been away from here for ages!! Just to confirm you are correct, I eventually got the same answer from them as well. I've put in a lowrance inline fuel flow meter and hooked it up to the plotter so will be interested to see what the economy is like. I reckon on a good run it's a little over a litre a mile.

A quick question - do you happen to know what size prop you have? I have the same engine on a 6.8m Shearwater rib and I think it is under propped.
