they are great boats and many on here can give you some inside info, i was going to buy one and researched it a great deal. if you are buying an older one then they come in two styles, gen 1 and gen 2 and some are a mix of both, this reflects the hull and modifications done to it as well as some upgraded mouldings inside the boat to the seats etc

pm if you want to know more and i will share what i know, if you are going for a boat after 2000/2001 then they should all be gen 2

Lovely boat - depends on what you want to use it for - not so good for EXTREME ribbing but for normal family stuff it's great. Nicely laid out and very good resale.

Does the boat already have the Verado? Great engines from what people say but expensive and heavy - if you are buying new go for an Evinrude ETEC 250 or a Suzuki 250hp - unless the Verado is cheap!!!

We sold our 7.5 Cobra in Aug 05 we had it new in sept 03
If you want a honest oppion, they are a great boat for inshore liesure but not for rough stuff, hard ride. the consul is great for stoeage but in rough stuff you get chucked all over the place.
Check the corners of the cushions the colour combo looks great but when you turn them over they are stapled on to ply and not even level and the vinyl rubs off.
The battery is in the starboard stern next to the tube, Why? if you stuff it the water runs each side of the rear bench seat and as happened to me it fused out. we had it moved to under the steering consul cost £250 at least its dry. you can only get to the bilge if you are 12 stone max have a look your self. there is loads of storage but none of it is dry, i had to tow mine back to Wales twice at my own cost for warranty work to be done
there is loads more.
on a posative note. We had hours of fun water skiing picnics and messing about, just remember that they are built to a price. i had one.
Whats wrong with a Yamaha 225 0r 250

I have a Cobra 8.5m diesel with a Mercruiser DTronic 250hp for sale. Costs just over £10 an hour for diesel! Great boat and extremely quick - the extra lenght makes it a good smooth ride. It comes complete with trailer, aux engine, chartplotter, radio etc.
