Communication system

I needed a system that would let my leader in the rear seat "guide me" as I helmed our RIB. I followed various threads on RIBnet and tried various systems. Eventually, I tracked down a system called deck band - a Bluetooth system with four earpieces and microphones that could each talk to each other as well as the central console. You could also hear the radio. Unfortunately, I had a crush fracture of my thoracic spine that meant the end of my Ribbing days, before I had chance to try this out.

Its now for sale on ebay but I thought other RIB users might be interested, as RIBnet is where I became interested in this. Any questions please let me know.

I dunno, TBH. They're dd's - I think he pulled something fairly cheap off Ebay. They work VERY well - no wind noise and he has them hooked into the VHF (still couldn't hear Tony though ).
He's got them set up in an Otter box, the proofing isn't designed for RIBs. Still, they're on their third season maybe? They went to Islay in 2010 on my old boat.

You should PM him.

I'm sure there's some pi55 to be taken there somewhere

Yea me too I don't think I would use them enough to warrant the expense. I am sure the usual suspects will be along to take the pi55 out of you re the wetsuit!

If I was buying a Gecko for Mrs willk, I think I'd pass on the Comms feature.

Seriously though, you hear every word, cough, heavy landing grunt and sniffle over those things. It's worse than listening to Tennis. Maybe fit a mute switch on your set

With the bluetooth units that you can see on my Geckos on the other thread. I made up a couple of single ear headsets so they can be used without the Geckos. Useful in the summer.
