Hello all
I followed the 'Spirit of Cardiff' RTW attempt closely at the time and even took my SIB down to Cardiff to see them off. When they appealed for money after Carter 'jumped ship' I chipped in as well. However my own adventure across the Pentland Firth in my SIB and round Britain with Brian Elliott (Cyanide) and Mike and Di Garside (Magellan Alpha) took over my time. This was then followed with almost 2 years of work to sell up and move up to the Highlands, so I never got around to reading the book (Confronting Poseidon).
I actually brought the book last week (great book but could have had more brackets
) and have had my nose stuck inside it ever since. There was a lot of talk about filming in the book and it stirred my curiosity about the project once more. Certainly Alan Priddy was a role model for my own mini adventure.
The big truck (Land Rover 101) has shrunk to a Land Rover Discovery (much more comfortable - and reliable - but not so much street cred) and yes I get togs going out with me. I also do a lot of work at The Carnegie Club (Skibo Castle) as their recommended photographer. Mixing with the rich and famous (like a RibNet gathering)!
Come the spring I'll have the SIB over on the West Coast for a few adventures...
Keith (pops in now and again) Hart
