What thickness board are you after and what ratio core to laminate are you after?

If you say what use it is for i can work out what laminate thickness you require on each side of the foam.

You will be better off using ply. IMHO.
Coosa board is foam with glass laminated both sides, you could use foam to core the transom but you would need to use HD core with a density of about 200gm, the average foam core is only about 80gm...
gm is gram per meter square....

Yes this is very very sad in states you can get 350 gsm coosa
At 21 mm and 18mm at 195 gsm
I really don’t want to use ply in any transom on any boat
No mater how well it’s sealed in the rot will get in in the end,
There must be a better option than sticking a ticking time bomb back in the boat

Well try HD foam, Corecell is one of the big brands.

The issue you have it it has to be laid up and put under vacuum for the hardening process as all voids need be be eliminated. Which in turn means using epoxy based resin systems as they have a longer working life as you can use slow hardener and you need all the consumables that go along with the vacuum bagging process. It’s more expensive...

I understand you are replacing a transom on an already built boat, the main issue here is that the surface you are looking to bond the new panel onto, the pre made transom, is not going to be straight and true and the panel you would apply should be made on a vacuum table which will be straight and true so you will require a good amount of glue film to fill any voids and this will be heavy.

If you know where the cut outs are in your transom you could use ply and have inserts when the cut outs are. They could be foam for elephant trucks and solid glass plate for engine mounts.. it’s labour intensive but you will get a satisfactory end job.

This is why I am looking for coosa board
It ticks every box I have used it in the states and you buy it the correct width pre lamed up
With the correct gsm and strength that you require they go mad for it over there yes you have to epoxy it in
But you only do it once
And yes it’s about $380 per sheet but worth it some one here
In Uk must stock it
