Cowes Classic!
I'm just watching Meridian tonight and they have said that the Cowes Classic is to include the powerboat world champs or something.
Last I heard the future of the CC was under threat as there weren't any sponsors and the racing was becoming too dangerous in the solent with all those yachties. So, this is great news!
They reckon it'll become the "grand national" of powerboat racing.
Can anyone shed any more light on this? Adam, Martin?
Cheers
Tim

I think the P1 show at Cowes will be great - well marketed racing with some big interesting boats.
Not sure where it leaves everyone else as Cowes have not looked after the racers at all in recent years. Also not sure what courses P1 will be racing as they generally run quite short laps I believe?

They did mention on the news they were going to make it exciting for the spectators...i.e. close short circuit racing I guess.
I can't wait for that weekend now!

We heard there is no Harmsworth or Cowes Torquay Cowes this year, so naturally very dissappointed. We have raced in P1 as well and its not really 'proper' offshore racing, more like Class 1 style spectator driven racing. Obviously for Class 1 you need protected conditions at 150mph plus but we really hope that the big offshore endurance classics like CTC dont dissappear! These kind of events are really man and machine against the elements and are becoming hard to find these days...
