Went to have a look at it and i must say its very impressive bit of kit, nicely put together and solid construction.

We have put the 2006 Humber up for sale on Ebay with a new Yam 115hp extra long shaft on the back and raised transom (only done 5 hrs), this has resolved any flooding issues from before.

We Hope to have the ex Cowes ILB in active service with us 1st November under the call sign "Venturer Rescue Two", will give us couple of weekends to get the crews used to her.

Humber are advertising a 2008 6.3 with Suzuki 140 on their website for a wopping £22,295, no electronics or gear, no trailer etc

With that in mind i think our 2006 6.3 Humber is at reasonable value, with a brand new engine only 5 hours, all electronics kept on board + the road trailer.?

Realistically, the new owner will have to remove the wording from the tubes (unless you do it 1st) and the reserve plus the £15k start price isn't condusive to bidding on an ex rescue boat either.

For what it's worth, it's had hardly any use and is an impressive looking boat. I'd personally clean the wording off the tubes then relist it.

Depending on who buys the boat will depend on what if anything gets taken off, i.e Blue lights , lettering etc.

Our 6 M Humber Ocean Pro
The 115 Extra Longshaft fitted to our Humber is priced at nearly £9000 .
Fitted October 2008 with only 5 hour running in use. The electronics including
2008 Raymarine A65 Chart plotter and Compass Compass 2 VHF Radio
Large under deck tank tank. Avon rear Frame £500 . New four wheel trailer
and all the associated equipment to which you must add the labour for
fitting it out. Leaves the actual price of the hull at about £3000.
The Humber has. one of the best soft dry rides I know. That it only
being sold because the Cowes Rescue Rib was offered at what I think
was a very reasonable price , and had Radar and other equipment we
could not fit on a 6meter Humber. Have a look in Rib magazine at
prices for some ribs

Tiffy, doesn't matter what you paid for it, the only thing that matters is what someone will pay you for it. With a recession just starting to bite it isn't the time to be selling expensive ribs when folk are being laid off. Good time to buy though. Hopefully you bargained down the price for the Cowes ILB so that the losses on the humber are palatable.

Quite right Pete. While boats as a whole do hold their value over years, it is still the case that the moment you unwrap the electronics and hang an engine on a transom they drop in value as individual assets. They do not keep their individual value, but add to the appeal of the package.

As for sign writing and blue lights, sensible buyers will be put off (mind you silly buyers still have money). Take the fancy bits off but tell people about the excellent history that the boat has.

Stick it on at 2/3 or less of the price you are asking, you might get some interest then.
The moment the engine is fitted and used, its value drops by around 4k.
As its a 'rescue rib' people see it as an abused item, not a cruising rib. a thing for kids to blast around in saving hamsters and the like, a social toy, not a tool. (I dont mean this IS the case, just the normal perception of the great unwashed), like a boyscout tent only used once for 17 treks to the brecon beacons by school outings.

Start it at a penny, then the true value comes through, depending on your funding, how much interest you are paying on the dosh to buy the ex lifeboat etc. sometimes its better to cut your losses. not being too negative, but a 17 year old in charge of a boat leads many to believe its just a toy for youngsters to blast around in. The market will find its own value.

Agreed, start at 9k and if it sells for 12k then thats the value in todays market recession et al.
