Cowes! Looking for a company!!
8-9 Y ago. I had my first looking for a RIB Boat trip, traveling by car from Sweden I saw the Scorpion Ribīs and I was also at Isle of weight. I couldnīt find the place so a nice guy picked me up from the harbour and we went to his office (5-10km). And they where building small "tom cats". Small rib with catamaran hull for 20-40 hp. They also maked their own mould in the fabric.
If I remember right the company name was Cowes Marine??! Anyone heard about this company.

You mean one of these?
Here's a pic of Jools & my wife Laura on said Tomkat at the Spirit of Cardiff meet up some years back. Jools has left the world of ribbing and bought himself a cabin cruiser. You can get ahold of him through his website http://www.prestige36.co.uk/ (He is Julian Kemp.) Also do a search on rib.net for Tomkat and you'll get various info and pictures.

From recollection I do not think that they actually went "bust". It was an orderly liquidation, and I believe all creditors were paid in full. Certainly having made the tubes for the Tomcat they were all paid for with no problems experienced. Joe from Ireland was the owner of CMI(Cowes Marine Intenational).

Hi, just arrived, I will answer this as I have it in my sights, and then I will go looking for an introduction section
The Tomkat rights were bought up by my brother-in-law, who has just died, as far as I understand, (he was a bit of a wheeler dealer type), he sold the moulds and prototypes to Yamaha for them to develop, I don't know what happened after that, I don't think they ended up paying the full agreed price but I couldn't swear to that. There is one unused complete remaining boat so you may see it around soon.

Hi, sorry to dig up an old thread, but I have a collection of spares for the Tomkat, I bought the boat my brother in law had...a yellow one, and it came with a lot of spares, gauges, wiring looms, switches, dash panels, control cables, fuel tanks, steering wheels, fuel fillers etc. So if anyone needs anything give me a shout, I am in North Norfolk so if any one is out this way you may spot me, it seems that Yamaha just buried the design...so it's a bit of a rarity now
