Particularly large range tides for this area...Very high HW and very low LW
I think it happens twice a year (spring and summer)
The spring one doesn't get so much press as....
1... it is not in the Cricket season...and
2....the spring one it probably still looks covered as it will be sheeting down with rain and the wind will be lumping water onto it too.
The 'island' formed by last nights low tide was all of 60-80 cm above CD and only lasted about 40 minutes or so.
The island would have been higher and longer lasting if Cricket was a suitable game to be played on a wet sandbank in the middle of the Solent at 0700 ish instead!!
