How many hours do you calculate for that?
I have about 18 hours to spend before first service.
Original plan was to go 100% of the way, but it got stuck by the serviceneed.

It seems quite simple. If you want to do trip. Wait till your not trying to circumvent covid rules. You’ve said XS will facilitate this. I think that will take longer than you think though.
Step two, come over for a few days, use your boat enjoy it. Do 20hrs. Get serviced. Don’t be in the middle of the North Sea worrying about service hours.
Step three, take an experienced skipper with you, whether qualified or not. Someone who has the skills, training, experience with all respect you don’t appear to have to know what to do when something bad and unexpected happens. Let them sit back, enjoy your boat knowing someone who will avert danger before it happens is there. I would imagine if you just offer to pay expenses you’ll get a number of offers from folk who’d just love to do that trip in that boat. Take the stress out [emoji106]

Ach! The lad meant to say “British”[emoji6] the whole English/Scottish/Welsh/Norn Irish/UK/GB thing, confuses most of the Brits, never mind Johnny Foreigner. The lad meant well.

Well put.
I was going to say we're all one, but you've put it better.
I'm a fan of the Union 👍👍👍

I would be concerned in doing a 200km solo crossing in a brand new boat that I didn't know and with unrun-in engines.
i'm not doubting Karl's planning and thoroughness, but I'd want to be well familiar with the boat, its systems and engines before such a maiden voyage.
As I understand the the plan is to do a handover from XS at Harwich then motor straight over to Hook of Holland.

Very basic plain Rotterdam to Malmö via the nord ostsee kanal north of Hamburg it’s 550miles ish
No idea on the paperwork or regs for the kanal saves a trip around Denmark (might be fun)

Hull to Malmö was the original plan. But covid and service put an end to that.
If the covid thing just dissapered, that plan would be up on the table again.
Then i only had one issue to deal with, thats doable.
I have the possibility to do the 20h service in Cuxhaven, i just need to arrange with a trailer there.
But as far as i can see, this will remain a dream.

Im sorry for starting it, thinking British writing English.
My sorry comes with a story;
My mother was a real traveller, travelled a LOT all around the globe.
There was only one place she repetedly visited, Scotland!
All other places once, but Scotland mayby 10 times.
Some day i must go there and see for myself.
Have a great weekend to you all.

I think this sounds like a great adventure.
Just plan it well, choose the weather wisely, give yourself lots of contingency and backups in case you have kit failure or any other emergency en-route.

Weather forecasts are accurate & plentiful & as long as the day is picked with weather in mind the trip is easily doable in this boat with the correct planning. Absolutely no way I'd consider putting it on a truck if I was in the same situation.
Go for it & let us know how you get on [emoji106]

This is your best route ,we had a guy with 8plus metre rib with twin 4.?? marinised landcruiser diesels ,built it himself ,tows it with a unimog as too heavy otherwise ,used to regularly do Levington slipway to Holland for breakfast

I enjoyed following the Vendee Globe recently - some of their rough sea footage was epic!

Dosent look like the ideal place to be.
Does it say exactly where it is?
On the path Dover-Calais, is it even possible to have that sea conditions?
