PRICE OF FEAR
Arek
I bought your book during one of my last trips to Poland. most incredible story. It is like reading Clive's book about the Pride of Cardiff, once you start you just have to finish it.
Arek, if it had not been for your friend the Dutchman then you would not have made it. He was for sure most helpful . It is a shame the book is only in English. However for those who want to get a feeling of what it must have been like then get a hold of the June 2000 issue of Rib International. There you will also find a lot of good photos of Arek and his "Price of Fear"

That's for sure!
that is the reason, why I dedicated the book for Him and His wife. Averil, His wife, she is English
One more thing!
The translation from Polish to English for RIB International had been made by Andre, so if anyone would like to know ( or read some more) - talk to Andre - Just a joke! I'll try to find a publisher in UK and I'll translate a book... with help of course

Price of Fear
Arek
I cannot take all the credit . Yes it was I who did the rough translation but it was Hugo who did the polishing up. And what a great job he did .

I will drag my back copy out and have a look.Hugo is indeed a great Editor and has done more for getting the concept of ribs out into the market place than anybody I know.
I personaly think Rib International is the only magazine I love reading from cover to cover.
We order it and it is the only mag you just cant put down.I look forward to its arrival every 2 months.I wouldnt think twice about getting it every month if it came out.
So Im in the market Hugo for R.I monthly if you can.

As ever, Mr. Hart is correct. The first atlantic voyage was made by a Dane called Nogbad the Bad. With argument raging between the raggies and power boys, he decided he wanted the best of both worlds. He employed sixty Swedish oarsmen from the Volvo tribe to supplement his sails. Unfortunately, these were worn out by the time he reached the New World (leg problems) so he had to employ some native American muscle. Also, not being content with the handling of his hardboat in anything above a F6, he decided to take things a step further. He lined the gunnels of his longship with inflated buffalo bladders thereby inventing the first Rhib. Shame on all you pretenders.

Enough of RIBs?! Never! The only problem is, that my boat ended up in Maritime Museum in Gdansk, and will stay there for next 100 years Most of the RIB owners (only a few in PL) is thinking, that I'm crazy, and don't want to see me closer than a mile from their boats They are not used to be at sea on an open boat in force 7-8. For me it is the best weather! That's what for RIB's had been invented! Ribing on flat sea can be boring;(
I haven't seen Andre, but I talked to Him by phone.

It makes me shiver just thinking about it I hope you get another soon and tell us your tales of woe,I believe the lads that are crossing the Atlantic are on schedule and that the boat is nearing compleation. That will be an interesting trip as the Sea doesnt change and if it wants ya,it will have ya,wheather its your first time or not.I will be following there progress closely and wish them well.If there is any news I will post it on this thread. There web site is www.arctic2003.com and they may be interested in your past exploits,if you can email them,it may be of interest to you and us all. I wish them a very safe return.

See You soon!
