Some of you may know of our Redbay 8.4 Expedition called Crusader. We have owned the boat from new and she has always been pampered compared to most ribs. Fenders everywhere, shore power with dehumidifier over serviced and never ran up a beach in her life.
While working offshore on Christmas day 2016 I got a single WhatsApp photo from a family friend. Thinking it was an xmas day best wishes type of thing I was horrified to see this...
It's a little hard to see unless you know what your looking for, here's what it looked like the following morning
The pontoon where she had been berthed for 10 years completely sheared off sending the yacht next to us up the rocks and under the gangway. Crusader was spared the rocks but a night of bumping on the broken pontoon during a storm burst the port side sponson under the water line.
Due to all the back and forth with the insurance, surveyor and us we lost the 2017 season. Crusader was put on a truck and taken back to Ireland to go to Redbay to be Re-tubed and most importantly on both sides.
With work commitments and other distractions it's been delayed somewhat but on Thursday I flew to Ireland and picked her up at Redbay.
It's a dozen birthdays rolled into one when your boat comes back.
Welcome Home Crusader!
