The Ship Inn in Teignmouth was a favourite of ours growing up. The sun set right down the estuary in the evening which makes the beach and pub a sun trap.

For a good beach day, the side of the river Avon opposite Bantham beach is a good place to drop the anchor and keep away from the usual waves crashing against the shore. Lovely beach there as well as having the ability to walk around to the Pilchard Inn which is a really small and old pub on Burgh Island.

If going to the river Exe cafe then there is a boat menu whereby you can just turn up and have some food. Unless you go on the cancellation list then you won’t get a table in the main restaurant (a family friend is the owner and they are half booked for next year already).

A great alternative on the Exe is The Turf at the top of the estuary. We have taken our main boat up there which draws 1.5m without issues. In a Rib you would be able to reach there in all but the lowest of spring tides. The long sweeping bend opposite Starcross Yacht Club (second oldest club in the world) gets shallow and as long as you can get round there then you should be ok. I believe the pub have installed a new and larger pontoon for visitors which is useful.
