Deck Stains

Hi all and hope you are all keeping well.

Ok... I have a few stain patches on the deck of my RIB on the gel coat. These are a few oil blotches and where a small pool of water has laid.

looking for a bit of advise on liquids etc to go with elbow grease.

Cheers all

If the stains are stubborn....Just paint the whole deck....I've used "Interdeck" textured paint on older Boats ...works well

I tried some StarBrite Non Skid deck cleaner on mine as one of my first lockdown jobs, to try and remove several years worth of grime and stains, and thought that worked pretty well, having tried various other things over the years that weren't overly effective!

You could try some traffic film remover then power wash that off, then some oxallic acid and wash that off thoroughly. If its still bad sand it down and finish with either Interdeck paint which is cheap and very easy to use or re-flowcoat (takes a lot more effort)

+1 For Oxallic Acid, just keep it away from the tubes.

I just cleaned a nasty rust stain from my consul caused by the fire extinguisher mount, a thick paste of water and baking soda spread all over the top, left for an hour and scrubbed gently off kitchen scourer. it got 80% off.

thanks all for your suggestions, I will have a go at the cleaning advise. The deck is clean other that a few areas around the transom where fuel and oil spills settle
