Hi Ken, thought that might have been you going north on the M6. I was going south and saw you just before I get held up in the traffic jam between 37 & 36. Looks bloody big on the road!

Very nice indeed.
What are you going to paint the hull with?
As you know I went to the trouble of polishing mine and then I delivered my bare hull to XS ribs and James said....nice job on the hull.....we refurb ours using a textured finished......if only I had know.....hours and hours and hours lost lol.

Above the waterline I'm just going to buff & polish it, the red comes up well, the seats & console were far worse than the hull & they came up well. Below the waterline it's got coppercoat on so the plan is to just re do the coppercoat as it might occasionally get left on the mooring we have. I much prefer original gelcoat to paint if possible, I think you did yours the right way despite what rib retubed said, time well spent imho👍

Engine progress has been a bit slow but after discarding 2 Yamaha blocks for various reasons I found a good yanmar block I'd forgotten was there which turned out to be a real good one . Been ordering parts from dubai & Japan which take a while to arrive but genuine toyota parts are roughly 1/4 the uk toyota price which is usually half the yanmar price so well worth the wait. Got the crank in & pistons in & the crank plastiguaged & swapped around a few of the selective fit bearings to get the clearances correct. Once done the crank turns lovely & the clearances were on the tight side of the reccomend tolerances which was reassuring for a crank that had run a life & been to a machine shop for a straightnes check & journal polish.
Currently waiting for exhaust valves before I can build the head. Hopefully get some time on it shortly & get the new oil pump on & the sump back in place

They take some beating, testimony to how good they are that they are still being produced (for limited sales) not much out there to compare for ease of maintenance & simplicity at the hp range.

Managed to get the rubbing strake & tube sanded & a first primer coat of glue on ready for attaching the fender, wont have an extra pair of hands till monday to actually get it stuck on which is a bit frustrating. Once the 16m anaconda is in place it should be easier to work in between other jobs I'm doing.

Hi ken
It's looking like everything is coming together and she will look stunning when finished.
Cheers Kevin

Managed to get the D fender on but still not sure on the rest of the bow detail. I'm going to clad the bow & above & below the D fender with flat strake as per usual delta style, I'd like to stick to the original design as far as possible but thinking I'll probably not refit the aluminium fairlead, thinking of just a plain d fender cut to form a fair lead as per the grey boat but thinking I'll not do the cut out of the main D fender but stop the cut section above the main D fender.
Any other suggestions I'd be happy to hear them

That's exactly how XS did the new club XS500 I specced at the end of last year, and I've been very happy with it (albeit with their triple strake which doesn't cover quite as much as the Delta flat strake).

That's almost exactly what I had in mind only thing I think I'll do is open the bottom piece of D fender the same as the top piece.
Thanks for posting the picture now I know it looks fine I'm a bit happier going ahead with it 👍

Yes, I did debate that when speccing it but decided the painter lies very nicely beside the full D on the lower section, and I'd prefer to keep the full D profile there where it's likely to be used as battering ram by some club members... But on your own boat much less of an issue!

That is a good point about the extra protection might have to rethink which way to go now

So the A frame screen grab rail and seat backs arrived back from powdercoating today so decided to bolt them on so there not lying around .Not much other progress apart from getting the tubes marked & sanded for the top & bottom rubbing strakes to go on

Rubbing Strake

On the subject of flat rubbing strake, you don't happen to know who makes the strake that Delta use do you? Henshaw's sell something similar but it's by no means an identical match. Cheers

Not sure if the delta style strake is still available the one I used is just flat with two lines where it starts to taper. I was redoing the full boat so wasnt to bothered about an exact match
