Diagnostics and Yamaha Outboard Service

Does anyone know if an outboard (yamaha F150a in this case) should be routinely connected to a diagnostic tool as part of a service?
I was going to send mine in for a winterise and service and was surprised when I was told that they don't connect such engines to a computer as part of a service unless diagnostics was required?
your thoughts are, as ever, appreciated.

Presumably diagnostics are only required if there is a problem to diagnose
I guess there is little to check if there are no faults

Does it use yds 1.33? If it does why don’t you buy it for £60 and plug it in whenever you like.....

What year is it? Think 1.33 covers earlier years, something like pre 2012.If engine is working fine prob not a big issue. Don't know F150, do you have an hours gauge to track hrs? I use YDS to check sensors, settings and any codes flagged, but probably only if I think I have a problem not necessarily when I'm servicing.
