I went out to Chichester Marina a few years ago to buy an ice cream saw a rib for sale and bought it on the spot. It’s white and scary at full speed so I called it Ice Scream.

RIBase
The Ballistic 7.8 was mostly white and the 225 Opti made a hell of a sexy noise so it became White Noise

5.4 is Dominator-was supposed to be a nod to it being ex military. Not sure it works but it's stuck.

The SR4 was 'Psychosis' because it made me charge at waves with a manic grin, then turn round and come back for another go

I'll be wiping down the Zodiac on the beach or by the car

Sometimes a chick will walk by and say something

It's usually blah blah blah because I'm not paying attention

But I'll usually say something like ...

Sometimes she's a dirty girl and she needs to get cleaned

Then they get all wet ... and giggly

So that's the name of my boat

Given I'm having to rebuild my drive now, I've decided to rename my boat "Miss Take" .

Just remember that whatever you call your boat, you'll have to use it in comms with the emergency services if things go pear shaped. Calling it 'Turdis' might seem funny at the time, but you'll be cringing when calling 'Pan-pan Turdis' over VHF!!

Current boat is Lunasea, which is what ribbing sometimes is! I also like the word play.

As others hsve said, consider how the name comes across on VHF, and as it's unlucky to rename a boat, make sure it's something you regret in a few years.

My old boat always got renamed by the boat yard.

It's name was Distant Rumble => So they called it Drunken Fumble
Then I changed it to Formulator => they called it Fornicator

I couldn't win.
