diy centre console
has anyone on here tried or suceeded in making their own centre console from scratch?
as in plug - mould - finished console?
ive been looking for a double console with front bench but cant find anything that suits or is the correct size!

I recon a wheelie bin shortened down as a mould would make a good single console, maybe two bins for a double.

Making the plug is the hard part if your a good joiner and good with filler then it's not too bad but it usually involves lots of grinding sanding and filling and lots and lots of time

I doubt you'd find a grp manufacturer who could make you a 1 off console to your design without the cost running into £1000's it's very labour intensive making a plug from scratch

any consoles i've found are looking like £1300+ anyway and they arnt ideal so i dont mind making the plug myself to let me get the size and shape i want if i can find a grp place to take the mould and make the finished product.

I'd have thought if you can make the plug then taking the mould and making the console wouldn't be beyond your capabilities that's the easy bit really

Making the plug and getting a good finish is the hard part.
Fiberglass work fairly straight forward
here is a picture of the console I made

I'm not sure what it is that you're looking for.
Is it anything similar to this?
