The only type of life jacket suitable for a Jack Russell is one filled with lead.
Nasty ankle biting snappy excuse for a dog. And Yes I have been bit by more than one. Keep them in a cage and only let them out when you need them to catch rats. Sorry but that is how I fell about the little buggers.

Assuming that you're UK based:

http://www.caninespirit.co.uk/shop/d...sp?prodsecid=4

http://www.scruffmacduff.co.uk/acata...oat_Coat2.html

http://www.petbuoyancyaids.co.uk/?gc...FQqVMAoddjBWzg

http://www.canineconcepts.co.uk/item...et--lifejacket

http://shop.lifejackets.co.uk/acatal...ifejacket.html

I have physically seen a PetFloat Coat (on the first link) it seems to be decent quality, and RuffWear is a very well known brand - particularly in the USA.

I'd suggest that the level of bouyancy is not particularly important. Dogs can instinctively swim, and will float for a good while until their back-end sinks and drags them down. The most useful feature of the lifejacket will be the handle on the back. This will greatly ease the task of getting a dog-over-board back into the boat.

Hope that helps,
WMM

Davybouys' Jack Russell has a lifejacket.

'Rusty' travels all over in the SR5.4

Also has a useful handle on the back to lift him in and out with.
