Driving class

I’ve been looking all over the internet looking for classes on courses specific to driving and handling RIBs in the US and can’t find a thing. I here them being mentioned all over the place on the other side of the pond. Does any one know of any in the US? Will the ones in the UK take foreigners?

Too right they will - and flights are cheap enough - only prob you will have is the strength of the $ versus the £.

Just had a cunning plan - you may even find someone who will come over to you and teach you in your own boat for a free holiday!!!

If you have operated a boat before you won't have any problems operating an inflatable, they are more forgiving than a conventional glass boat so if you have been out before no prob, otherwise United States power squadron safe boating classes for rules of the road navigation etc. You may even arrange to go out with Coast guard auxillary if you are new to boating.

You might want to send an email to Gregor at seaforce (http://www.seaforce.co.uk/), a Glasgow based powerboat school. I know six months ago he was making noises about setting up a school in the US (east coast I think)... ...even if he's not in the right geography or timeframe for you he probably has a good idea if there is anyone nearer to you.

Thank you to all. I will see if i can get a hold of seaforce, I CodPrawn i like the way you think. I have ran traditional and SIB's but never a RIB i'm not at all woried about running in the sound but would like to learn how to handle more chalenging sea conditions. We have a couple river bars that lead into harbors that get really nast on a flood tied.
