Drone
I know some of you use a drone for pics of your boat so after some advice is it legal to fly one in someone's garden at low level and can the pilot see where he's flying?
I'm a live and let live bloke but since next door has been broken into it leves me thinking are these being used to case properties.
I don't know who is flying it and were from so just after a bit of info.
Cheers

I wouldn't have thought the two are connected. I've flown one and they can be difficult to control especially in wind.

Just like ribs there are drones and DRONES.
A decent one will sit completely stationary in 30mph winds and are very easy to fly.
It is very likely the person flying it can see you yes, take vid and pictures too.
It is impossible to say these things are related to break ins but it of course is possible.
The best thing to do is alert the police someone is flying into your garden as you may not be the only one who reported it and go from there.
There are strict rules about flying them but enforcing them is the problem and you are reliant on the pilot being reasonable and following the guidelines.

I ve got a 6 foot fence right round the garden with lots of trees and bushes in it, this thing came in smooth as 4 props steady as you like and moved around as if it could see where it was going I don't think anyone can fly blind like that.

If you see it again shoot it, if the person flying appears at your door, give him it back in a bag [emoji4]

They would not be blind it would have an FPV Camera on it and he would be viewing via goggles and or a screen (FPV = First Person view) I have several quadcopters or drones as people like to call them

Drone
Pretty much been said.
The rules can be seen here https://www.caa.co.uk/Consumers/Mode...Flying-drones/
Worth noting that if it has a camera (whether recording or not) it is classed as "data collecting" and therefore even stricter rules apply.
Irrelevant that it is a drone / UAV Privacy law also applies.
Getting permission to legally fly in a populated area is a lot of effort and a lot of CAA paperwork.
Definitely a non-emergency call to the police and an email to the CAA if it were me.
Having a garden hose handy would be a good alternative to anything more questionable. Even if it didn't brining it down the pilot wouldn't be very keen to return after it getting a soaking.

True - but I'd imagine that the owner would have to provide reasonable evidence in Court that the drone had been shot/hosed down. The question of data collection would then arise, as would the legalities of flying/filming around a domestic dwelling...?
Not worth the hassle to the "pilot" I suspect. Personally I'd take the drone out and worry about the fallout afterwards
