Drone for Boating - New DJI Mini 2

I have several DJI Drones and Just bought the new DJI Mini 2 it is very small light and can allegedly handle the wind well. Quite easy to launch from a boat and excellent quality a a very nice piece of kit.

They are not the cheapest on the market but I like many others are certain they (DJI) are the best. If you were considering such a purchase this might be the one to get.

Argos have them for £549 flymore combo and they are doing very safe click and collect

£11 for a safety helmet being " a tight wad" then £549 for a drone for a rib.

I totally get it

Does that helmet come with a drone docking station?

I am sure I could make one but it might not comply with so many standards that some seem to think are important.

I love drone footage of places we might wish to visit as it gives an amazing overview. Not sure about getting one in case it takes over from the actual boating. Years ago we did loads with horses and at every event my eye was glued to watching through a 1" video monitor eyepiece and it was something of a relief to eventually give up the video and just enjoy the events.

Not totally off a drone but resisting so far.

I sort of find the same with the Go-Pro, by the time it's set up and the bluetooth is working I've lost a bit of interest, then when the boating's getting "interesting" I'm enjoying it to much (or have my hands too full) to turn it on!
I more enjoy the moments than relive them.

That said, there's some great and riveting footage, notably Mr Gurnard. maybe my trips are just boring

Best answer is to have a mate with (not who) drones, you drive the boat they drive? / fly the drone.

Whilst I doubt your trips are boring, could you in all honesty post footage on YouTube and have it scrutinised by all and compared against Mr Gurnard wonderful documentary style cinematography
I for one have decided to give my Gopro to my son, I couldn't stand the shame

One recent thread on here 'The great Orkney Sib Adventure' and the number of views it has received is testament to the joy of recording some of your trips.

Modern Kit however is far better, Smaller, Lighter, Has Anti Vibration and is very easy and quick to use.

Getting a decent video is incredibly quick an as for a drone anyone can fly one.

Here is what I think is quite a nice clip that I took earlier in the year (Not boating) but to film it and edit it took about 10 minutes total

It is not just incredible video that can be taken from these drones.... Look at this 360 Pic of Heybridge Basin I took earlier this year

But if you start and try having a go you might one day get as good as or even Better than The Gurnard then we will all have some more content to watch.

I think that is the concept behind the 'SHARE' button/Icon on various software and apps is it not.

Worrying that you might not be good enough is not something that people should worry about
