Dry Stack Costings

To open up a can of worms

I have been dry stacking for quite a while and recently I change one boat and the annual renewala are due soon. I notified the change of RIB size. The RIB is 6.65 inspected and coded but on my present facilty I am being quoted 7.7 as tube length! This could put my annual fee up by £600 on boat length

I am interested in how other people have been priced before I decide my next action. Are you priced on Manufacturers length or on a marina measured length.

Happy to say Southampton Dry Stack , my old suppliers are costed on manufacturers boat length.

Normally it depends on whether we like you or not!

Seriously though, here at KB we normally go on manufacturers length unless there is a good reason not to do so. This could be like having a ridiculously large bathing platform attached to the stern of the boat, or a huge great jet drive sticking a metre out of the back.

Assuming you don't have such issues, I'd talk to your chosen dry stack and ask for a bit of flexibility.

Good Luck!

By the way, if 1.1m extra is costing you £600 you must be at a very "exclusive" Dry Stack.

Cheers, no our RIBS are standard no extras except we kept the engines on!!! just getting an overall picture as I have asked for a meeting but as they say knowledge is power. But a £600 increase on just one boat alone is enough to destroy customer well being.

I'm still waiting on Southampton drystack to reply to my request for quote so looks like they won't be getting anything from me at the moment!

Ian,

At all MDL Marinas they charge by the measured length.

Gets audited by staff from other marinas too. Ofted we see MDL Staff from other marinas walking around the pontoons here (Mercury) with a tape measure.
