I had one I needed the boots changing on .. then, one I wanted a (ahem) fly zip on .. thats what you get for having two cans of lager after lunch at sea and the guys couldn't have been easier to deal with, and most importantly,.. they were able to alter the suit to perfect condition as if it was off the shelf The breathable fabric is amazing and yet so light, it doesn't seem feasible ! .. you can get reinforced knee pad and shin protection pockets too, they make them with thicker material where its needed like the leg fronts and buttocks, and thinner where less required to keep it light. For work I'd suggest heavier, but for a buzz out and about and leisure, I think its a good compromise

crewsaver suit with a good wooly bear underneath plus m'thermals if its really brrr cold- use it all literally year round for training- no probs and was only a couple of hundred squids. Whatever you get it needs to be breathable or you will sweat and then freeze

That is one thing with the crewsaver one I have. Any bare skin sweats like a Nun in a brothel.

Where are the prices? Say the 200 version?

I'm hoping to get a dry suit for next season, mainly for weather protection on the RIB. I'd like one that will be ok for me to do some snorkelling - NOT diving, but just swimming around on the surface with mask and snorkel. Will any of the suits mentioned in this thread be OK, or should I go for a 'diving' suit, like some of the higher spec Aqua tec ones?

yep thats what I have breathable its fine. Wife has a ravenspring cos she likes the built in wellies, and whilst it is ok and the service is exceptionally friendly we have had three now and none of them been free from leaks. In my mind not as good as the hyperdry but much more expensive

Thats a bugger Dave re Ravenspring - were they three replacements, three different suits or did your wife wear through three - if any of that makes sense!!

Mine has to go back to be reduced in size - as I rather over egged the measurements - think Canadian Mountie around the leg area ....mmmm hang on though hubby took my measurements and I took his - which fits perfectly!!!

Anyway will now be very careful to ensure neither leak

TQ

Hi Alystra,

It's best to give them a ring and have a chat about your requirements. I reckon the 200 will be fine for what you want as long as you don't intend to go crawling over barnacle encrusted rocks (I had a reinforced 'bum patch' added to mine because I usually wear it in rock strewn rivers).

One tip when getting measured is to remember to allow for bulky warm layers- paricularly around the shoulders because if the suit's too tight here it can pull the neck seal away from your neck when you look down.

If you're lucky they may have some surplus suits the right size which should be cheaper as long as you don't mind 'Fire' written down the arms.

I have the rubber socks fitted as I can chose what to wear on my feet, walking boots/canyoning boots/fins/trainers. Again allow for thick socks in the winter as tight socks is the quickest way to cold feet although they're easy enough to change.

Front zips are the way ahead and of you're feeling flush a 'comfort' (piss) zip. Zips are expensive so make sure they're fully unzipped when you put the suit on to prevent it getting strained. I flush mine with fresh water after salt water use and lubricate with silicon spray not oil.

All the best, Jim

Many thanks for all that Jim, some good points to consider.

Cheers, Tony

Ursuit drysuits

I have used many diffrent drysuits modells, nowdays i use only Ursuit drysuits and Ursuit divingsuits. They are proven to be very reliable and they are very nice to use. My opinion is that there is no better product on the market.

Dave, you're an old cynic!

Those suits look great, and look at the conditions!

And I can't find those two pics on the Ursuit website, so....

Last week I visited the Henry LLoyd outlet in 'Clarks village' at Street, they had a very nice TOP END heavy duty, ''OFFSHORE'' drysuit new,but old stock, [including front convenience zip 'KY 2'!] for I think £130,this suit retails at over £700!! A BARGAIN...IF, you are a size medium!! Hope this may help someone.
