Dublin Harbour (Fuel and Guinness)

Hi,

I'm planning a trip to Dublin from Holyhead in the next week or so.

I was hoping someone could help with the below please:

Is there a petrol station I can use over there - ideally one I can use from the dock rather than tubs... do I have to book etc ?

Is there somewhere I can moor the boat safetly and jump a cab for a decent Guinness ?

I'm assuming I take my passport ?

Any help or advice would be great thanks !

https://www.dlmarina.com/ - petrol on the water

My advice would be take the DART train into the City - runs from beside the marina. You can take your boat up the Liffey into the city center - important to get info from the Port Authority and follow the rules.

Since Brexit, you will need to notify UK Borderforce https://www.spcr.homeoffice.gov.uk/
You will also need your ICC, VHF license and ships registration (SSR)!

I doubt he'll be asked for any of that in Ireland. Maybe to get back home?

Guinness is abundant wherever you choose.

As WillK says Dun Laoghaire has fuel on the water (ladder climb so if you’re lazy refuel near high tide) and a large marina so they always have space.
DART is urban rail along the coast so will get you into city centre.

Howth is a fishing/seaside town just North of Dublin Bay, also has marina but no petrol on the water. Good choice of restaurants and pubs. Again you can go into city on the DART from there too.

Malahide also has marina, I think they still do petrol. Bars and restaurants here too. The ubiquitous DART also runs from there. Be careful in a strong easterly as there’s a bar and narrow, but very manageable, channel.

If you’re doing a tour, Greystones is just South of Dublin with a marina and some good food outlets. And yes, you can get the train into city centre from here too.

Dublin Port like you to talk to them once inside Dublin Bay buoy. Particularly if you want to do a run up the Liffey.

There is a small marina up the Liffey at Poolbeg but don’t think you’ll get fuel and no train from there.

Enjoy the trip.

I think I’ll stick to Dun Laoghaire for the first run, I’m sure I can get a decent pint of the black stuff there

Howth is far nicer imho, marina bar was fine & overlooking the marina, we thought dunlaoghaire was a bit bland & pretentious Howth seemed far more friendly.
