Easter Weekend - Kirkcudbright

I am heading upto Kirkcudbright for some Easter Boating, anyone know any good places to visit up here?

We are planning on boating Sat, Sun & Mon and launching at the timber yard slip - (1/2 tidal) - So looking for some easy boating, bays, rivers things like that.

The original plan was to try and make it over to Ramsey, IoM - but given the winds I don't think we will bother.

Well, I went.. It was OK - As I haven't had any feedback, I thought I would reply to my own post, giving feedback for anyone in the future...

I launched at the Old Saw Mill / Baity Timber Yard Slip - It can be found on boatlaunch - I found that unless the water was very slack it was almost impossible to recover as the water was that fast (found out the hard way), so I ended up launching on the first day, then kept the boat in the marina the rest of the weekend, then timed my final recovery perfect.

In the area there is plenty of things to go at, we did a few bay visits, and also did a trip over to Ramsey.

All in, plenty to visit and go at - Would go again.

I bet it was a bit chilly. It was breezy over the Easter weekend. Sea conditions must have been fine though. Was up at the Mull of Galloway. Great views of IOM covered in snow. Thinking of going to Peel from Luce Bay in the summer. Went to Ireland last year so looking for a challenge for this summer.

I'd love to do Ireland next, or France. Just love the idea of getting somewhere on my own steam.

Can recommend Donaghadee, tie up next to life boat on left as you go in and Pier 36 as a watering hole...black water only ...fish and chips excellent.
