Easy light board
If you trailer boat it is important to limit the faff as much as possible. Some years ago I sealed up a normal light board with CT1 so that it was submergible and I did not need to take it on and off. This lasted several years but has now failed. I have therefore fixed some metal plate to this old board. Cut of the flex and bought a set of magnetic lights. We run the cable over the top of the boat and these can be took of and put back on quite quickly. Here is a link to the ones we bought for £19 I deliberatly did not want LED as they don’t flash the icon on my dash.
These save time are easy and no more poking a long light board into the car

The only upgrade I’d recommend from that is the connex wireless led lights. Magnetic attachment also, but no more dimly flashing trailer lights and long cable runs. They’re excellent, on my old landrover’s naff wiring, the trailer lights are at full brightness now.

Yes, for sure. I have a boating checklist anyway, adding one more item isn't such a big deal, but certainly some of my boating buddies would struggle to remember.
But anyway. if you prefer cables, then the wired magnetic LED light clusters are great. LED trailer lights are such a good upgrade compared to the old halogen bulbs.

Some modern vehicles (mine included) don’t even have a dash warning light anymore. The vehicle knows when a trailer is plugged in, & the trailer lights are monitored by the inbuilt bulb failure system on the vehicle. In the event of a trailer bulb failure, a message pops up on the dash.

I think he might mean the LED wired versions. Some don't draw enough current under load to show the trailer indicator on the dash. That was common on older generations, but If memory serve me right from another thread, the OP has a Discovery 3 which should take the LED lightboard no probs.

On the Disco 3 the LED lightboard does not flash the trailer icon on the dash. An old style one does flash it fine

Plumbs, eco-trailer.co.uk, sell a resister that you plug the tailboard into, if you google it, you will see it,
I used 1 and it works

I've used a 10 ohm, 10 watt, ceramic resistor before and it does the job.

Good quality LED trailer lights, CanBus compatible.

Wire these into your indicator trailer lights

A good quality LED light board will flash the icon. Cheaper ones often don't pull enough current for the car to identify the trailer lights and they can have flickering issues too.
You can jury-rig the light board with a couple of relays or resistors to fix the issue on cheaper units too though.
