hi folks i wish id seen this forums earlier i bought a 1991 yamha 50hp outbard of this guy trading on ebay as ukoutbards, for my first boat so i wasnt too clued up on prices and ended up paying £1000 for it, which he said would be totally complete inc remote / cables etc as all i had was basic boat shell. After a month of emails and non answered calls the engine eventually arrived , my workmate next door says its older than he advertised, no cables and minor bits missing. so its almost august and ive still not got it going, the prop he put on it is not the right one so ive to get another now, its just all been a huge financial disater enough to put me off boating before ive even taken it up.
tonight i went on ebay to give him bad feedback and the timelines expired, the feedback rating next to his name is private and he has nothing for sale so id imagine he has started a new name. why cant ebay ban pricks like this from starting new accounts? if I find his new one ill buy everything and leave bad feedback without payment.
if anyones intersetd the mobile number i ONCE got him on is 07770459625

Dan the dick Cooper strikes again
Having spent a lot of time reading all about DannyBoy's activities I feel like a total fanny to have fallen for this.
I parted company with £220 for a mariner 60hp gearbox and prop. No gearbox arrived and after admitting he still had the box 2 weeks later (the couriers apparently decided to bring it back to Danny) no refund either!
Paypal found in my favour with the dispute but Dannyboy had emptied the sweety jar. Paypal will not refund if there is nothing in his paypal account/s with which to make the refund.
A decent fellow at "outboardspares unlimited" pointed me in the direction of this forum.
There is also a new ebay shop called outboardmotorunits, ebay item 180331717463 could Dannyboy be back?
I'm up in Scotland and the small claims is awkward with Scots Vs English law. Anyone know of an easy way around this? I'd love to go visit him but I'd spend £220 on fuel far less my time although I'm sure it would be VERY satisfying.

Perhaps you will have to put it down to experience, i am surprised he is still out there getting away with it, one day he will rip off the wrong person and his luck will run out.

you can't use the online claims service (moneyclaims.gov.uk) unless you have an address in England or Wales where the court can serve documents. But I thought you could take small claims action in Scotland even against an english defendant. Enforcing it may be more complex though? Taking action also assumes he has enough money to repay.
see here: http://www.scotcourts.gov.uk/sheriff...1April2008.pdf

It is possible, in certain circumstances, to raise a small claim in cases even where the defender does not live in Scotland, or when you do not know where he or she is.

give your local court a ring and see if they can confirm.

Scots Vs English Law
I'm no expert but as I understand it.
I need to appoint an English lawyer to represent me and I can't see that being a cheap option.
I could possibly find myself having won my case but deaply out of pocket.
Although a call to the courts will be an option to explore.
Thanks for taking the time and interest to respond.

I'm no expert either, but that sounds like how a Scot would raise an action in an English court rather than in a Scottish Court.

Dannyboy has been found ---outboardmotorunits
I've had a response from Mr D. Cooper. (see below)
In terms of court action, because the goods were effectively purchased in England then the small claims action needs to be done in England rather than Scotland. The issue is that although I will almost certainly win my case and regain my £220 the legal bill will be lots more. I will certainly also win my expenses BUT will Mr Cooper have the finances to pay it all?
Mr Cooper, you clearly read this forum. A bit of advice : Return my money, return payments or send good to the remainder of the long list of unhappy customers you clearly have and finally you tell us that you are selling up. Well that appears to be a good idea but do us all a favour. Stick it all on one pallet and sell it cash on collection. Do not contiue to sell on ebay, boatsandoutboards etc. You are eventually going to end up in Jail otherwise, what you are doing is simply theft.
THE RESPONSE
Having spent a lot of time reading all about DannyBoy's activities I feel like a total fanny to have

satisfying.

There will be an address for him on Paypal. Look in the details of his transaction with you.
Careful what you say and DON'T mean in public lads. If said Nob winds up broken and the wrong colour it wont look good.
