Update
I asked him if he had seen this thread and he has blocked me as a buyer
Says it all really and saves me the possibility of him ripping me off too!

He wants to trade outside E Bay too, have a look at the answer to the question he asked me.

I bidded and won an auction of his a couple of weeks ago for a 9.9 Mercury outboard. Didn't realise at the time of bidding who the seller was but his feedback looked OK and he was in Norfolk which meant my parents could collect it for me. Anyway, won the auction, and got my mother to liaise with him to sort out collection etc. Mother collected the engine two days ago from the Makro carpark in Norwich.
Our experiences of Dan Cooper were totally positive. He made quick contact after the auction, met somewhere that was a lot closer than his premises in Loddon, and seemed to offer pretty good value with what he was selling. I haven't seen the engine my self yet, but my mother says it looks like its in very good condition, and comes with a 3 month warranty should the worst happen.

Re Dan Cooper
Hi Guys,
We paid for parts for our Mercury Outboard in January to a Dan Cooper. He came up with every excuse possible, from them being lost, on their way or damaged in transit and he then stopped answering our calls. He always sounded so genuine and even said he would refund our money, but never did. We went to the police who suggested we contacted a solicitor, which we did. We took him to the small claims court, which only cost £30.00 and WE WON !!!! He paid up the full amount he owed us and court costs.
So for everybody out there who he owes money to, take him to court, if he doesn`t pay, ( but he will ) they`ll send the bailiffs in and seize whatever he owns.
We said he was living at his mothers address, I think it`s his mothers, she must be in business with him because her name is on the cheque.
Her address is ;
< Edit: Contact details deleted. More information here. JK >
GO FOR IT !!!

I had a phone call today from 01508 520181 which is Dan Cooper's advertised phone number.
He didn't leave a message. Wonder what he wants!
John

I've just checked my email, and guess what? I have mail!
Dear Sir
As you are well aware, your website (www.rib.net) forums contains a post which you have made 'sticky'. It relates to our business / us personally. It contains slanderous, mainly false comments including references to stolen engines.
We are aware that it may not be all you personally and we have the names and addresses of the ring leaders posting on the forum.
However I am sure you are well aware, as the website owner you are liable for the website content.
We have seeked independant legal advice and intend to pursue this matter through the courts for damages and through the police as there are laws in place which have been broken by the content of the forum.
As you well know there are references to my mothers home address, contact details, she has also spoken to the police and given them the details, they are arranging for a officer to call at her house to take further details and pursue the matter.
I am sending a copy of this letter by recorded delivery to your address at 40 Portland Avenue, the only thing you can do now to help yourself is remove the thread.
Yours Sincerely
D K COOPER
Proprietor
Norfok Boat & Outboard Centre
I have temporarily locked this thread while I review it.
If anyone has any outstanding issues with Mr Cooper under any of his trading names please send me a PM or email me. Likewise if anyone has posted here about an issue that has subsequently been resolved please let me know.
Thanks
John

Right, I've had a look through and made a few edits:
Stolen engines
I have seen no evidence of Mr Cooper selling stolen engines although there was a suggestion that it might be prudent to check the serial numbers given his reputedly poor business practices. I have edited or deleted any posts that imply that motors or parts sold by Mr Cooper are stolen.
Contact details
Although it does appear to be a valid address for contacting Mr Cooper when other means fail, I have removed the details of what is reported to be his mother's address as a courtesy to her. He may live there, he may not. His mother may be part of the business, she may not. If anyone really wants this address it won't be hard to find elsewhere.
Other changes
A few posts called Mr Cooper rude names. I have edited them as they fall below the standards of civility that I expect on RIBnet.
Other than that if anyone is aware of any specific posts that are inaccurate, please do let me know.
John

Hmmm.... I wonder how it'd stand up in court if a few of the people who haven't got goods they paid for turned up? Unlike Mr Cooper, I think I DO still have their contact details...
He doesn't have any names and addresses of so-called ringleaders unless they are genuinely dissatisfied customers-which then begs the question why didn't they receive what they paid for-so even the email he sent John is a pack of lies. He certainly doesn't have MY details... and I'd love to see him prove that the engine he sold SamT was the engine he said it was.
More bluff and bluster from someone who appears to think the truth is only in his own head.
