I think Gotchi is saying it's somewhat underpowered.

Somehow I think he'd change the engine before the boat though.

If you don't have anything factual to say don't say it. If you are an idiot keep your mouth shut. Forum's are supposed to be supportive!

I built this RIB for efficiency and long distance cruising.

I have just returneD from a 150 mile cruise in the Bristol Channel and never once was I under powered.

Planing is at 3,000 RPM, cruising speed is 24Kn at 4,000 RPM and top speed recorded at WOT was 39Kn. More than enough for me and very difficult to use WOT on the sea in a F5!

By the way, fuel consumption is very low...the mots important thing to me.

Good luck with the sale, and with the move to the USA; I hope it all works out well. Great boating on the Great Lakes!

I'd like to know your secret in getting 39 knotts out of a 100hp on the 6.2 please?

As a bare boat with no stainless on, no seat bases and minimal equipement the fastest I had was around the 42kn with a 21" Viper on. But with all the kit on board, full tanks, stainless etc I can reliably get 38kn's using a 19" Viper prop.

I'm more than happy with the performance, but always thought it should have acheived just over 40kn's. I'd love to try a 17" prop and see what that does as there's another 250rpm to max out WOT

Quite possibly!

However after I started adding weight the performance of the 21" dropped down to 35kn's and started to bog down when accelerating. It was funny as WOT didn't seem to reduce with the speed, indicating more slip was to blame. I clawed the speed and acceleration back with that 19" viper you found for me on ebay and it added 250 rpm to the WOT which is now midrange at 5000 rpm. I've always been curious what a 17" would be like, but I haven't found one at the right price.
