Elephant Trunk thru hull

Hi all , my RC 585 is almost ready to go. thanks for all the posts and advice thus far. New console , jockeys and engine have all been installed and the boat rewired . Just need a bit of help on what elephant trunk housing to go for. Does anyone have any specific brands or tips for fitting ?

thanks again

i recently had to redo mine since avon decided to cut corners when fitting one.

all they done was bore the hole and flowcoat the inside of the hole. ofcourse that cracked eventually and moisture would get into the transom-i spotted it early on and fixed it with marine epoxy.

anyway i digress-if your going to do it there are a few kits out there if you prefer-

i personally would bore the hole, glass it up properly then flowcoat accordingly then fit this thing with sika-or glass in the entire assy if you can find something suitable.

whatever you do do not use normal silicon-pay the extra for sika from your local marina/chandlers.

cheers

Saw one made from an old bronze through hull outlet pipe flange fitting from a scrap fishing boat ,
Think it was engine exaust/water outlet and was about 2 /3inch diam.
Recon boat jumble would be a good source too for one.
