Engine bracket height

Raising my engine as the engine cavitation plate was sitting 1 an half inch below hull. But is it safe to have the top of the engine bracket 2and a half inches above the top of transom and top bolt is about 1 inch and a half below top of transom plate. Transom has been reinforced and has a stainless steel plate internally and on the top of transom. Is it worth filling the gap with a piece of timber or is the gap fine left open as I know the bracket does not have to sit on top of transom.

I don’t think the saddle sitting high is a problem, mine is on a jack plate and is around 2” above jackplate

I wouldn’t do any major structure work until you are happy with it. Might have to trim it back down.

Do you have suitable spreader plate or large washers for engine bolt holes?

I’ve gone for it and raised the transom by 70 mm and I’ve raised the engine so the cavitation plate is now just under 2 inches above hull bottom, originally it was 2 inches below.
If I had raised the engine to the height i have it now on original transom the top bolt was only 2inches below top of transom which I didn’t feel safe with. Also had som 5mm chequer plate made up to cover transom inside an out to help spread the load. Probably over kill but better to be safe than sorry. If anyone needs a fabricator in the Cornwall area let me know. Find a guy near Bodmin really helpful and very reasonable.
