engine model no

hi all new boat and got no information with her, so was wounding if any one could tell me what year engine is. it is a 6E9 S 001885
Also is there anyway to tell what year the boat was made all i know is it is a sea raider many thanks

6E9 is a Yamaha 30A shortshaft, with a serial number that low I would expect it to be 1979/80.

Yamaha built their reputation on engines like the 30a. Much better engine than later 3cylinder 30Hp

Common Problems on these are failed front shock mount, and damaged press fitted pin on gearshift linkage under tray

hi davie could you tell me how easy is it to convert manual to electric start on the 6e9 i know my why around a tool box mostly motorcycles any help would be great

Its easy to fit after you source the correct parts but I know there are at least 4 different bolt centres for the bracket that supports the starter motor. If your engine has a ring gear you are of to a good start.
