Epirb/PLB proving its worth
Was working on the Rib at home today when I heard Brixham coastguard relay a mayday from an activated PLB, coordinates fed into my plotter gave it pretty much due south of Polperro, sadly I wasn't in a position to do much but there was a yacht nearby who actually knew the yacht in question and its owner, they knew that he was single crewed and that his PLB was physically attached to him -

Nice catch!
This is why I wear mine, on a lanyard, all the time when I'm boating. PLB's do work, Everyone will be sent and they will find you...

Likewise - always on me - some I know think its overkill. My thinking is I can still need it even if only a few hundred yards from the beach. If I ever need help I'm going to set off anything I can get my hands on.

I have been meaning to get one for ages. I will have to mean a bit harder I think. So, what is everybody's preferred yellow pocket sized helicopter whistle?

Fastfind 220 is the last version which come only with GPS
PLB without GPS is pretty useless for coastal use.
In January Ofcom relaxed the use of PLB's on land, it's now legal to use these in UK land!
