A sail is hardly necessary in the current situation

I keep my boat on it's trailer at a local secure caravan storage facility a mile or so away from my home. As well as the caravans and motor homes there are a few boats there along with traders show trailers, and a couple of race cars on and in trailers.
As it's so close, and I thought I would have been isolated from anyone else, I was planning on sneaking up there to work on the boat as often as I could.
But I received an email from them over the weekend saying that because of the large number of people ignoring the Government guidelines on essential travel and visiting the site to visit their Caravans they had made the decision to close the site completely for the duration, although they would be sympathetic to individual needs if anyone had a valid reason to visit and called to arrange it beforehand. The owner lives on site at the entrance so is able to offer this service.
The new -to me- engine I’ve brought is also stuck in a dealers workshop who have closed for the lockdown.
Although initially a disappointment I do understand why they have done this, and I do fully understand that no one really has a valid reason to be there considering the guidelines. I just wish I had room to keep the boat at home.
I have received an email from a caravan owner at the site who knows me through a friend of a friend, and he’s suggested that they can’t deny us access to our property, but I’ve replied that there is no valid reason for anyone to visit the site.
Nasher.

+1
The quicker the country gets on top of this the sooner we can get back to some semblance of normality
Mates yacht starts its summer mooring tomorrow, he's paid in advance many, many thousands to the marina.............and they've told all berth holders to stay away, Doh! ( he understands sailing would be inappropriate until the restrictions are relaxed, hoping the marina can come to some compromise with his fees... )

is it essential when you must get out the house before another episode of dinner date starts or you will go completely mad?

I'm lucky enough to have a couple of old Ducatis in the garage to occupy myself with whilst the boat is not available.
But again I can't justify riding them.
The garage and garden are going to be sooooo tidy.
I was supposed to be fitting our new kitchen during holiday I've taken the week after Easter, but only half of it has arrived, so Lady Nasher has been told I can't start it - shame
I did manage to get some fencing materials delivered before the lockdown, so have that to do as well.

My old jeep looks a bit sad after it’s 20th winter outside, I had to jump start it last night. I think it’s time for some tlc.
I’ve obviously already cleaned the boat! That’s going to get the big cover until we’re on the other side.

This mad contraption went past my desk up the Clyde towards Glasgow today, thought you'd all enjoy figuring out what the hell it is!

Hiding his light under a bushel!
Built near Colchester in 1949, served at the Dover lifeboat station. Powered by two petrol engines.
I'm no expert either but this self-isolation does funny things.

Isolated
I'm in Perth Western Aussie
Luckily we are the most isolated city in the world and fortunately the only cases of the virus are from people arriving from overseas or on cruise ships.
Restrictions have been in place and do not advise unessential travel, but not strict. So boating is still OK if not more than 2 people on board.
But the reverse happened to me as I am retired and normally go boating during the week when the boat ramps are nice and quiet.
However the last time I went out, I have never seen the boat ramp so busy. A lot of business have had to close so the employees are taking their holidays and all decided to go boating.
I've always envied boaters in Europe, how they can cruise to different places and we can't cruise anywhere. So hang in there you guys will be cruising all over the place and until then stay safe.

well it looks like there's one rule for us and another for others around here. my rib is locked in the local yacht club compound and we have been told they don't want to see anyone in there . the marina has stated they will only be allowing commercial vessels through the lock no leisure craft at all .and as far as I'm aware the other 2 boat clubs with access to the water around here are singing from the same song sheet .yet yesterday there was 2 small warrior / predator type boats just off shore fishing both with more than one person on board . I'm not fussed but if other folk have seen them they might be tempted to sneak out too.

The same in Poole. Our yacht club is closed, and have roped off access to their haven/marina, so no boats can get in/out. The other nearest commercial marina is similarly closed for the duration.
However, there was certainly at least one sailing yacht enjoying a cruise through the harbour at the weekend and a few motor boats buzzing around, and every day we see kayakers and paddle boarders going out, presumably for their "exercise", even if that does involve driving, launching, paddling, recovering, and driving home.
But by far the vast majority are following the rules - the weather was so nice over the Easter weekend, and Poole Harbour was empty for the most part!

Was just thinking the same thing... Seems to me that going out on a boat on your own or with family members is compatible with the new rules.

I’ve even been filling the tank with super plus because it lasts a bit longer (maybe), but we’re definitely ready to go.
A trip around the Isle of Wight to get us started would be amazing!!
