Someone has to ask, does going out to play in your boat count or can you use it to go shopping?

I had a similar discussion about going out for a ride on my motorbike. In the end, it failed the is it necessary question so for the time being I'm going to comply and put it on a SORN.

I can’t argue with the necessary bit! It’s going to be a long summer.
I bet it’s really hot, sunny and for the first time in about 10 years........low winds!

I was just thinking of a shopping trip to Cowes via the needles, Ventnor and Bembridge but I guess it’s not appropriate!

I think summer is bollocksed in this part of the world, it seems like Cowes is shut and Sparkes Marina on Hayling Island is closed. By closed, I mean no access to your boat.

Gonna miss my boat this season too. I’ll miss it even more if I’m dead mind.

Very strange to see the Solent today with no boats at all!

It’s very annoying. A friend and I have private access to a huge lake in 100acres of grounds, completely isolated. Unfortunately the journey there is the bit we can’t justify :-(

My boat’s next to my house, all I have to do is step on board, I genuinely get the point but it is still sad.

And before anyone says anything, I know it’s not as sad as the disease, I’m just saying!!

Everyone could self isolate at slipways, the harbour master could officiate, he hasn’t got much else on at the moment!

Apologies everyone, I’m going stir crazy I think, I’ll report back after another 11 weeks!

The boat's in the garage, it's 4 miles to the slip at Port Glasgow, which I've never seen anyone else use, then out into the Clyde.

Argument for not doing it is that it risks me calling out emergency services who could be doing something more useful.

All in all I could probably have a fantastic day of it, but it wouldn't look great!

I live in Inverkip, in 7 days I've seen 1 boat out. a fishing boat!

My boat is in the water ready to go but that's my biggest fear.

getting into bother, being publicly shamed and all this other nonsense....

totally disagree with that when the London tube is still full, but you can't argue with the angry mob

I work for a harbour authority and boat usage for this time of year has increased. People are using the gov advice as an excuse. People dont seem to see the bigger picture. We have to maintain a patrol just incase something goes wrong (so more people at risk) and if they get in to bother us and emergency serviced (more resources).

Hi James

Which harbour? Nothing is on the water around here!!
I suspect you’d incur the wrath of the harbour master as well.

I was chatting to a neighbour yesterday, he was going sailing on Friday but when he enquired, he was told that the harbour is closed except for commercial vessels.
