Sadly, after the padstow tragedy last year, we know there is just no excuse not to use a kill cord, whatever the situation (the other console leavers won't help either)

Looks as if it is a jet drive boat and the lever on the left is for the control for the gearbox which isnt in gear so it would indicate the boat is not underway. The other lever looks as if it is a joy stick for quick close manouvering which goes hand in hand with the jet. Agree, image is everything and in hindsight he should have made a point of putting the killcord around his wrist for all to see. I must say, the angle of the killcord does look as if it is connect to his leg.Alan P

Thank you
All I was trying to point out is that we should not jump to conclusions based on a photograph/screenshot.
I now rest my case

It's a BRP (Evinrude) binnacle, I know they do a small jet drive outboard, but not an inboard that would have separate controls for the bucket.

RNLI do use spring loaded throttles - their reason being that a kill cord could easily kill the engine at just the wrong moment by accident.

Clearly a BRP throttle which is in gear.. Im sure i saw the grizzly one in a sea legs rib so im guessing the levers are for the wheels n shit.
The Nob is def a sea legs nob as pic dictates
It does look like it is attached via leg strap as its def not hanging straight down
Wasnt it at the SBS last year?

Correct. Sealegs. He had a smaller Sealegs that I've seen a couple of times at Abersoch (St Tidwals is his Island) and he got a bigger one recently. Extra levers do the "on land bit"

Please enlighten me on what vessels do the RNLI use spring loaded throttles.

Yes indeed you are wrong - the Atlantic 85 has conventional throttles that are not spring loaded.
Yes you are right that the Atlantic 85 does not have a conventional kill cord but then you are dealing with a highly trained, professional, crew, who know what exactly they are doing with a very experienced helmsman who never leaves their position and who will always have one hand on the throttles.
FI where is a "kill cord" on an Atlantic 85 but this is only fitted to the fourth crew member who sits in isolation at the rear and this will only light up a warning light on the helm when activated.
