WOW! incredible comments can you see something quite frankly I can not.

1, Is the RIB actually in the water, could be clever angle shot?

2, If the RIB is in the water, is the engine running?

3, If the engine is running is the RIB actually under way?

4, If the RIB is under way how do you know that the kill cord is not attatched to a strap on his knee?

It looks to me that it is a staged shot to advertise what looks like to me a floatation jacket / suit? or some fancy sun glasses?

Look at his left hand IMO not a natural position.

Just my opinion

That picture is a screen shot from a TV show he did on Discovery, last night 9pm. This clearly shows footage of him using the boat at speed with no cord!

At least he smiled for camera

Ok point taken.

But I still standby my questions/comments, most posters posted comments based on a photograph/screenshot posted by the OP.

I will ask again based on that photograph/screenshot what evidence is there of a "hanging offence" being commited?

It will not let me "quote" you Peter B&O.

I agree with you on that he could have an attachment on the kc the only way to know is if you saw the program then you would see it blowing about in the wind. But even so, if it was a still shot even just for awareness of how important it is to wear a kc for his viewers he should be wearing it imho.

As for his left hand, that is how you should hold the lever on a binnacle style throttle because it reduces the chance of being accidently pushed to full if you were to be knocked or stuffed by a wave.

I used the "traditional" handle for about an hour many years ago before I twigged it is so much easier to control and gives better response (less distance to move your hand for a given throttle opening) holding it like that.
Granted the response thing may be more relevant if you are not "maxed out" with HP.....

Hence the strange angle my Yam 703 sits at - I mounted it to "rest naturally in my hand" holding it much like that at cruising speed.

it is all about image, he wants to portray an image, which is why that picture went out, it is likely to be meant to portray him being "cool" or whatever, as it certainly comes across that way.

If we are to get the message across that operating a boat without a kill cord is dangerous, then people who are role models for others , he is chief scout amongst other things, should be responsible and try to portray an image that shows he is obviously doing the right things.

It is no different than glamourising smoking, or drink driving, IMHO.

Don't some of the RNLI boats use spring loaded throttles instead of kill cords?

not sure but thought I herd it somewhere

boat could be set up with an alternative kill system of some sort

not defending him but easy to jump to conclusions if your not aware of the full facts

Those are to deploy the two parachutes when being ejected out of a Lockheed C-130 Hercules of course
