Evinrude Etec 75

For the new 5.3 m rib I am possibly buying I want to put a 2 stroke on it. The boat is rated to 75 hp.

I have an old yam 70 that I might use but have found a couple of Evinrude Etec 75 hp that look a good price.

I know Evinrude have gone pop and not sure what spares etc are available.

I was wondering what any owners of Evinrude or indeed others think of these engines

Thanks in advance

Plumbs

For a 5.3m Rib that’s a pretty pathetic engine size they quote as a maximum HP.
Is it definitely 75HP?

It is indeed it is a lightweight Rib, quite narrow and the key thing is goes on an unbraked trailer which is a must for us

I have a 2013 90 etec. Never gone wrong, service parts available. Unsure what will happen in 2030. If there is a market for parts then aftermarket parts will be available. If not then when the etc goes wrong its bin.

I’ve got a 75 on a 5m rib. It has been faultless for five years or so now.
Starts on the button, quiet, lots of power and pushes the rib along at 35 knots or so maxed out.
Only downside has been that no one seems to want to service it.
Plus side parts easily available and I’ve learnt to service it myself proving very diy able so far.
I’d definitely buy another.
