I was thinking about how I could raise the cash until I read the detail.

Mismatched engines and a wooden hull would worry me.

This engine had a £29,000 rebuilt shortly before leaving service.
Blimey, sadly says it all about how wisely some spend their money...

Trouble is it then had an issue on its mooring and the other engine got dunked so they had to cut loose

I'm stunned that wooden, tired, cabin rib with unmatched engines is worth £20k+

its been up for sale for quite a while, the engines are just odd in so many ways.
Nice bit of history though none the less.

Would make a fantastic project if @1/3rd to 1/2 the price, but you'd want a matched pair of engines and drives at the very least. Or is that just me worrying too much?

The interior images were bothering me as they look like the inside of a breeze block Boiler room, but I then realised the blocks are Grey polystyrene insulation material.

As an added bonus you can sit on the head and watch the telly, right next to your bed.

Mismatched drives too! I wonder how well that works?

"Would also make a river cruiser could be used on some of the larger canals" might be the best bet

Massive bodyswerve. Not just mismatched engines - one jet and one outdrive!
Jesus!

I'm sat here wondering what the engines and drives are worth.
If sold individually of course.

The MRI 42! Spent many a rough day at sea on her.

The MRI (Maritime rescue institute) was one of the few independent lifeboat charities in Britain until it went bust. We had the 42, then we had a 28ft RIB with twin diesel inboards, jet drive and a 24ft RIB with twin YAM's on the back.

The 42 was an impressive boat, very manoeuvrable but always had engine issues - when it started up, people would sometimes phone the fire brigade because they thought it was on fire.

We sailed her from Stonehaven to Amble for a re-fit once and broke down a few miles from Amble and had to be towed in by the RNLI which wasn't our finest moment!

Here's a promo video someone did for us at the time!

The RNLI now serve the coast of Stonehaven in their Atlantic 85

Interesting video Simon.

I think this boat is probably up there with Llys Helig in terms in terms of the resource and the money to put right.

Looks like 2 engines that might go again , a lot of difficult to get rid of waste & a heap of firewood can't imagine any sane person taking that on to restore. Some prototypes never make it to production & theres usually a reason. Presumably if the boat had performed as expected the rnli would have made a mould but my guess is it never lived up to expectations.

Or perhaps did perform as expected, but the customer changed their mind. But either way, mostly all scrap now.
